Gearbox Selection for Warehouse Conveyors and Sorting Systems
Selection considerations for gearbox drives in warehouse conveyor and sorting equipment.
APPLICATION DETAILS
Application Description
Warehouse conveyor drives
Warehouse systems move, position and sort goods using conveyors and transfer mechanisms. The drive is selected for the load and duty of each axis, including accumulation, starts and stops, and any change of direction.
Selection considerations
- Define the maximum conveyed load, belt or roller speed, drive dimensions and friction.
- Calculate continuous and peak output torque, including acceleration and the effects of starts under load.
- Check the duty cycle, required service life, radial load and mounting arrangement.
- Choose inline or right-angle transmission to suit available space, guarding and maintenance access.
- Match the motor shaft, pilot and mounting pattern to the gearbox drawing; confirm the required ratio and motor speed.
Information for selection
Send the load, conveying speed, roller or drive-pulley diameter, cycle, layout and motor drawing. ANDANTEX can review the transmission and interface requirements.
